Two GrandSlams preceded this European Standard and both produced nearly identical outcomes. The top three couples maintained their places from Helsinki to Wuhan: Dmitry Zharkov - Olga Kulikova, RUS, won twice, Simone Segatori - Annette Sudol, GER, were first and Evaldas Sodeika - Ieva Zukauskaite, LTU, second runners-up in both. Many anticipated to witness yet another battle between these couples in Wroclaw too. To everyone looking forward to another taste of the drama in the dance-by-dance combat for points that was decided by the whim of four decimals separating the Russians from the Germans in the Wuhan final: it won't happen in this European! Simone and Annette are not among the 60 starters, having withdrawn at the very last moment.
